Congratulations on making it through the most unusual
school year in known history! I’d like to update you on the
upcoming summer. The HWC has resumed normal
operations, and is seeing patients for a variety of concerns.
We are performing yearly physicals, medication refills, sick or
injury related visits, lab draws, and sports physicals. Physical
therapy is also functioning at normal capacity. We will be
open our normal hours for the entire summer with the
exception of the week of July 6th. During the week of July 6th,
only physical therapy and lab draws will be available while I
have my vacation. When arriving for appointments, we ask
that you bring along a cloth mask if you have access to one.
This helps us to keep our PPE supply at an appropriate level.
We continue to ask that anyone seeking care schedules an
appointment, rather than walking in. This helps us to
minimize the traffic in our waiting room, avoiding potential
spread of germs. Online scheduling has resumed, and is
available for most types of appointments, but you can also
call to schedule.
During your well-deserved summer break, keep in mind that
experts continue to recommend social distancing and sticking
close to home whenever possible. As we all become more
comfortable with the realities of COVID-19, it is tempting to
become complacent with these important measures. That
could be a mistake, as Winnebago County is seeing consistent
growth in our COVID-19 case load. Keep yourself and your
family protected by keeping appropriate distance from
others, limiting unnecessary public outings, and monitoring
yourself for symptoms of COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently updated their
recommendation on mask wearing in public, which is now in
agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC). The WHO is now recommending wearing a
non-medical (i.e. cloth) mask when you are in public and
physical distancing is not possible. This includes things like
trips to the grocery store, etc.
